Dr. Baseem Wahab


A resident of Michigan, Dr. Baseem Wahab has the rare distinction of holding both the titles of MBA (2003 – 2005, Arizona State University) and Doctor of Optometry (1997 – 2001, New England College of Optometry). He also completed his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo in 1997. As such, especially as an optometrist, Dr. Wahab has been associated with and has served in different capacities in eye care improvement and research institutes, which have immensely benefitted the local residents.

As a President of Eyes on You Image and Practice Consultants, he has contributed towards providing eye care in various settings. Dr. Wahab has also been able to utilize is business administration skills to ensure a very high turnover for OPTICA of Arizona, LLC, while acting as the esteemed corporation’s Managing Member, during his stint there from 2006 till 2010.

The success of the venture can be gauged from the fact that Dr. Wahab turned it into a $1 million practice in 12 months, while being able to retain a net income of 43% of gross revenue. Since 2002 till 2007, Dr. Wahab also served in the capacity of a Director, Vision Services, Cigna Healthcare of Arizona. In this role, he has been responsible for ensuring smooth operations involving 19 providers and 82 support staff members. He has been directly responsible for merit increases and incentive goals. A host of key performance indicators attained excellence in terms of numbers during Dr. Wahab’s stint here. Dr. Wahab acted as a staff optometrist in CIGNA Healthcare of Arizona from 2001 till 2002.

As a staff optometrist, he, apart from discharging his regular roles, also worked closely with patient service specialists and center managers to improve patient satisfaction grades and center efficiency. Earlier, from September 1995 till May 1996, Dr. Wahab served as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Biology, University of waterloo. He was also a member of the Varsity Football Team from September 1994 till May 1996.

Research papers of Dr. Wahab include “Performing LASIK Using the Autonomous Laser on a Patient with Congenital Nystagmus” (Poster, American Academy of Optometry, 2000) and “Comparison study of fundus imaging tools and their benefit to the private practitioner”.
